Esther feels dazed as she slowly closes her fingers around the pendant after it had splashed her face with bubbly water. Her other hand absently wipes that moisture from her visage. She watches him leave in silence. Only when he has left their quarters does her hand tighten to a clenched fist over the pendant. Curling up, she draws it to her chest, ducking her head behind her knees. Quietly shed tears mar the froth of bubbles several inches beneath her face.

Shotton stooped, and pulled the chain out of the basket. Then just tossed it infront of her where it would hit the bubbles she was hedging between her breasts. "You keep it warm for me then. Maybe I'll change my mind. Or throw it out, don't care."
Women. He grabbed his clothes and didn't stick around much longer, muttering something about envying a certain snake... it didn't make much sense.

"I've never stopped believing, even now. He's just apparently ceased believing in me." They weren't upset words, just spoken ones. Eventually he pulled free of the bath with the gentle rush of water and went for a towel.
"Going to kick Gann's ass. Had about enough estrogen for one day."

"Not every time," is her startled response with a tiny glance towards him before the frothy water in front of her gets the majority of her eye contact. "I...I thought it was good that you had started believing again. I don't know why...I just..." She lifts her hands from beneath the water, wringing them nervously, a faint trail of bubbles and water wandering down her wrists. "It's okay," she continues softly. "I'm sorry. I didn't really think before I spoke. You're fine..." Her heart is fluttering fast enough that it hurts.

He was so angry earlier about the avian woman's actions, Esther feels a twist of dread knotting up inside her. There is an anxious flick of her emerald eyes towards him before those thick, long black lashes hide them again. The fact that he just tossed that pendant in the trash totally threw her off on top of the story he had just told her; a tale of such tragic horror it was difficult to comprehend the full scope of it. And she wants nothing more than to comfort him from that past horror...And here she is, messing things up again. "It is...almost just another way...or, version, of...of what you are so angry with...with...Chelsea about..." He did demand an answer, after all. If she had just kept her mouth shut!

Esther stiffens when he tosses the pendant away, landing it rather neatly in the garbage. There is a startled and sick feeling to start churning her stomach. She stares after it, her hands going limp as he moves beside her and kisses along her neck. "But if you don't...if you don't...give a shit, as you put it, you are doing the same as you were just..." She stops, nearly biting her tongue and drops her eyes, watching the light play off the crystalline bubbles. "I don't understand..."

"Maybe," he said noncommittally, grunting a little as she worked at a tight spot. Quietly he pulled the chain from his neck and balled it around the pendant in his palm. "Its hard to give a shit after that," and he tossed the thing in the garbage canister across the room from them.
With a sigh, he turned to be beside her instead, where he could kiss at her neck and forget the tension of his own. "Should just send her away."
